A square foot garden takes  80% less space than a traditional row garden. It also uses 80% less water and requires 90 % less work.  Imagine not having to weed your garden!   Square foot gardening  is not done in traditional rows but rather in groups.  For example,   A 4x4 box can have 16  squares in it. Each square measures  12" by 12".  In just one of those squares   you can plant 16 carrots or  9 beans,  4 spinach plants, or  4 head of lettuce.  It can hold over 100 spring vegetables and plants. You will not waste any seed because your planting is done more deliberately and you can save your extra seeds to plant in the following Spring.
